Frequent rear wheel or tyre changes involve more than simply adjusting the chain. Once the rear spindle is removed, the mechanic has to manage the wheel, chain, rear brake caliper and the correct positioning of several components around the swingarm. The PP Tuning EWC kit for the Yamaha R1 (2015–) combines precision chain adjusters with a retained rear brake caliper holder and a wheel guide rail mounted on the inside of the swingarm. These components work together to make rear wheel removal and installation easier, more accurate and consistently repeatable. The rear brake caliper stays in position With a conventional setup, the rear caliper carrier can move or become loose once the rear spindle and wheel are removed. When the wheel goes back in, the mechanic then has to support the wheel while simultaneously repositioning the caliper and guiding the brake disc between the pads. The PP Tuning EWC system uses a dedicated holder that keeps the rear brake caliper correctly positioned even with the wheel removed. This allows the mechanic to concentrate on the wheel, chain and spindle rather than supporting a loose caliper at the same time. Wheel guide rail for easier installation A dedicated guide rail is mounted on the inside of the swingarm. It helps guide the rear wheel towards its correct position during installation and reduces the need to repeatedly lift, tilt and realign the wheel while searching for the spindle position. This makes the process noticeably easier when tyres are changed frequently or when several wheel sets are used during a trackday or race weekend. Precision chain adjustment The left- and right-hand chain adjusters provide accurate positioning of the rear spindle and controlled chain adjustment. Clear reference markings on both sides make it easier to compare left- and right-hand settings and return the rear wheel to a repeatable position. This is useful during routine maintenance, gearing changes and frequent trackside wheel work. No drilling or motorcycle modifications The PP Tuning system is developed as a model-specific, ready-to-fit solution for the Yamaha R1. Installation does not require drilling, cutting, welding or modifying the swingarm. There is no need to fabricate additional brackets or adapt parts of the motorcycle before fitting the kit. The complete system is designed to bolt on and work together as intended. Not only for professional race teams The EWC concept comes from racing environments where wheels and tyres are changed frequently and unnecessary handling costs valuable time. The same principle is equally useful for amateur racers, trackday riders and riders maintaining their own track bikes. You do not need to be chasing seconds during an endurance pit stop. Easier wheel handling and a more controlled installation process are valuable every time the rear wheel is removed. Material and finish The chain adjusters are CNC-machined from high-strength 7075 aluminium alloy and use stainless-steel fasteners. Laser markings and accurate adjustment references make left- and right-hand positioning easy to monitor. Available colour options: The guide rail mounted on the inside of the swingarm is compatible with the OEM wheel spacer on the left-hand side of the rear wheel. It cannot be installed together with PP Tuning rear wheel spacer set VP011R
